Royal Hideaway Corales Hotel & Suites
A Unique Island Destination
Tenerife, Spain
The vision
The Royal Hideaway Corales combines the adults-only Corales Beach Hotel and the Corales Suites, a collection of privately owned apartments which can be returned to the hotel pool. The design task was to create a destination that guests and residents would return to year-after-year and we responded by creating a wide range of on-site experiences, some family-oriented, others adults-only, including several restaurants, bars and a large spa.

The Design
Taking their cue from the avant-garde, all-white exterior of the buildings as well as the volcanic landscape of Tenerife, the apartment and guestroom interiors are largely purist and monochromatic. The aesthetic draws on space, light and connection with the location. Fittings and furnishings are simple and comfortable with a slightly more residential feel to the Suites.
By contrast, the restaurants and bars are confidently independent in ambience, ranging from a modern take on Asian restaurants to a seafood restaurant with jaunty nautical references and a pool terrace that harnesses the astonishing geometric forms of the architecture.
The sunken spa, which can be accessed by a dramatic outdoor staircase, offers a cave-like experience punctured by moments when light is intentionally allowed through and by two courtyard gardens which begin and end the spa journey.
