Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl
Re-imagining the Arab inheritance
Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Vision
MKV was responsible for the space planning and design of the 368-room, 60-apartment Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi, part of a new landmark tower on the city’s corniche. Our concept was to create a city resort by reinterpreting age-old regional features within a very modern building, harnessing city and sea views, infusing the design with local reference and, wherever possible, creating connection between indoors and out.

Spaces
The hotel is huge, encompassing a three-storey glazed-over atrium, six restaurants, two bars, sumptuously furnished lounges, a grand ballroom, an array of meeting rooms, an exceptionally well-appointed spa and gym and a beach club. Four key design narratives thread through all these areas in a way that reinterprets iconic regional symbols – the sand dunes of the desert, the water that surrounds Abu Dhabi, the fire of Bedouin camps and pearl fishing – into a modern experience.
Spatial layout ensures that the hotel is closely connected with the world outside. Not only do all the guestrooms, apartments and public areas enjoy large terraces, there is also a roof terrace with pool bar offering stunning views.
